This was just a quick page detailing the steps that I took in order to get a newish version of git-annex installed under Gentoo. However, it has become obsolete as the "haskell" overlay accessible through layman now has fairly up to date git-annex ebuilds.

I am now using these ebuilds successfully, the trick being to make sure that you get all of your dev-haskell/* packages from the overlay rather than the normal portage ones which are generally very old.
